Meet Cat McCarthy, our Monthly Donor

Cat McCarthy from McCarthy Plumbing Group is a familiar and friendly face within the Wyndham business community, and she is well-known for supporting others whenever she can. The Wyndham Health Foundation is very fortunate to have Cat commit to being a regular Monthly Donor, and we are really grateful for the impact we can achieve with her generosity.

Monthly Donors are important to the work of the Foundation, and by giving a regular donation of your choice, it allows us to confidently budget for various equipment and resources to improve patient care at our local public health services.

We sat down with Cat to ask her why she chose to become a regular donor, and what she would like to see achieved with her generosity:

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your organisation?
My name is Cat McCarthy, I co-own McCarthy Plumbing Group with my husband Dave. McCarthy Plumbing Group is a family-owned plumbing company that provides homeowners, property managers and businesses in Melbourne’s West with plumbing maintenance solutions by our multi-award winning, client focused team of experts.

Why did you first give to Wyndham Health Foundation?
I had both of my children at Werribee Mercy Hospital. The nurses and staff were just brilliant, and I was so grateful so when I met Leanne Down, the WHF CEO, I wanted to give back.

Why do you continue to give to Wyndham Health Foundation?
I own a local business that employs people from Wyndham, my family lives in Point Cook; this is our community. It’s just something small we like to do to give back to our community.

What interests you most about Wyndham Health Foundation?
Anything that makes hospital stays better for kids and people who have long-term health difficulties is worth supporting.

Why does the improvement of public hospital services in your community matter to you?
As a resident it’s in mine and my families and friends’ best interest to have health services in our local community and not have to rely on the city over 30mins away.

What do you hope to achieve with your donation?
If a nurse gets a hot coffee, a palliative care patient gets a heated blanket or a child gets a toy during a stay then I’m happy.

How does the Wyndham Health Foundation differ from other charities?
100% of profits go to the hospital and its beneficiaries. That’s rare. It’s a good feeling knowing our donations aren’t tied up in admin fees or red tape.
