Summer 2021 – In Good Health Newsletter

Summer Edition

It’s time to wrap up the year and start planning for Christmas. And what a year 2021 has been! It’s so great to be out of lockdown and able to connect with people in person again. Despite the many challenges the year has brought, our community has shone bright by working with us to ensure Wyndham’s hospital services and resources are of a high standard. Our achievements are only possible with your support and we thank you for your ongoing help.

2022 will hopefully give us the opportunity to host various community fundraising events, which will allow us to network and enjoy each other’s company face-to-face. We are excited to announce these upcoming events in detail in the new year, keep a look out on our social pages and future newsletters for more info.

The team at Werribee Hospital Foundation would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year!

Best wishes for a safe and joyous festive season!

2021 Christmas Appeal: Giving the Gift of Care

This year, we’re asking for your help to make Christmas in hospital brighter for patients with some carefully chosen gifts, made possible by the kindness and generosity of local people. We’ve made a Christmas wish list, with a few of the things we know will make a difference to patient care for our community.

Christmas isn’t always a time of joy. It’s a time when a lot of people do it tough. We want to make the patient experience for anyone undergoing a hospital stay during the holiday period more comfortable. Items on our wishlist are at various price points so you can choose something that fits your budget, or you can make a donation amount of your choice to be allocated where it is needed most.

100% of donations are dispersed to our local public health service, all gifts are tax-deductible, and you can be guaranteed that every single dollar will make a difference in the lives of local people having a lot less fun than the rest of us this festive season.

Please help us make Christmas a brighter time for patients with a Gift of Care

Toy Drive for children waking up in hospital on Christmas morning

We are running a toy drive to collect as many presents as possible to hand out to the children on the wards this Christmas morning. We want to bring a smile to their faces and help them forget about why they are there, if only just for a few moments.

  • Gifts to suit newborn to 18 year old, both boys & girls (we are unable to know who will be on the wards at the time)

Spotlight on our Superstar Volunteer: Nik Tsardakis

The Werribee Hospital Foundation is honoured to have born and bred Wyndham local Nik Tsardakis hold the title of Founding Director. A true community-minded citizen, he has served on our board continuously since its inception in 1993, spending 10 of those years as Chair.

Nik raised his five children in Wyndham, with his own childhood spent living on his family-owned market garden farm in Werribee South.

It’s fair to say Nik ‘knows the area’ and his deep-rooted connections and love for Wyndham is a true benefit to the Foundation. His passion to see an increase in funding for the public health system and hospitals drives his motivation to ensure the Foundation receives the support it needs to meet its mission.

Not only does Nik lend his expertise in our financial matters, but he is also quick to roll up his sleeves and work the tools on a fundraiser BBQ or sit on an interview panel for prospective staff. Any request for assistance is met with Nik’s genuine ‘happy to help’ nature and we love him for his kind spirit.

We are indebted to Nik for being so generous with his time and for always championing our cause.
