This October we asked you to move for your mental health and to support mental health services in our community.
The idea of our 5KOK challenge was as easy as 1,2,3! For 5 consecutive days we asked that our community moved in an active way for 5km. You could walk, run, ride, skate, roll – whatever your heart (or head!) desired.
We all have mental health and it’s important to take care of it, just as you would with any other health focuses. Just because it is invisible to the eye doesn’t mean it’s not important. Exercise can really help when it comes to taking care of your mental health.
It increases blood flow to the brain and stimulates chemicals like endorphins and serotonin. It can also help with our moods, anxiety, mental clarity, improve productivity and memory and you can even get a better night’s sleep.
We are pleased to announce that with the support with our community we raised $5,825 to help mental health services in our community.
A huge thank you for Wyndham City Council who got behind this challenge and provided us with a $2,000 grant to help us deliver this challenge to the community.
