FEEL GOOD STORY! A newborn’s life saved with the help of our supporter Anu’s donation

We love a feel-good story at the Wyndham Health Foundation, especially when it involves a newborn’s life that is saved with a medical resource donated by one of our generous supporters!

Point Cook resident and business owner of Find My Real Estate, Anu Aggarwal, was a patient at the Werribee Mercy Hospital due to experiencing thunderstorm asthma. He wanted to express his gratitude for the medical care that saved his life by giving back to his community. Anu reached out to the Wyndham Health Foundation to help facilitate his donation, knowing they would disperse 100% of his donated funds to the hospital.

Anu chose to help the tiniest patients by purchasing an EZ-IO Intraosseous Drill. This little drill is used on critically ill newborns and infants who need cannulation insertion to gain vascular access to administer medication.

Anu’s donation was recently used to save the life of a baby that was born unexpectedly at just 28 weeks gestation. The premature newborn required full resuscitation, and gaining intravenous access to give life-saving drugs was very difficult. Time is critical during these scenarios, however thankfully the EZ-IO drill was on hand – courtesy of Anu’s generosity – which allowed the surgeon to gain access and deliver medications directly into the baby’s vascular system. As a result, the precious newborn was successfully resuscitated and is now thriving and waiting to grow big enough to go home with its family.

Anu donated the drill on his birthday, and it’s a fitting tribute that his wish to help save other’s lives was fulfilled on the day of birth of this premature baby.

This story is a wonderful example of how the ripple effect of kindness can be felt in a community. Anu believes that we can all do our bit – no matter how small – to save lives and make a positive difference. The Wyndham Health Foundation is honoured that Anu chose to align himself with our charity, in order to make this life-saving resource available at our local hospital.

You too, can make a lifechanging impact!

There are many items to assist with patient care that you may be in a position to fund, and they vary in price points. Anu’s $1,900 donation will help save the lives of many babies.

If you would like to find out how you may be able to help assist patient care in our community, please contact us for a confidential discussion on 03 8375 2783 or hello@whf.org.au.
