April 2022 – In Good Health Newsletter

April 2022 Edition

HELLO FROM OUR CEO,

Wow, 2022 has definitely kicked off with a BANG! It’s been an exciting and busy first quarter to say the least, and I couldn’t be happier about it! I’ve been in my element meeting and connecting with so many wonderful people – healthcare staff at the hospital, donors and business owners throughout Wyndham – to discuss innovative ways we can align to improve the patient care experience at our public healthcare services.

I’ve also had an absolute blast meeting our supporters at the various events we’ve been fortunate to host in the past couple of months. Seeing so many happy faces at our book sale, barefoot lawn bowls night and our Bunnings BBQ fundraiser has been really heart-warming and reminds me of exactly why we do what we do.

Coming up in May we have our very first charity golf day! We are beyond excited about this event and have already received brilliant support and interest with 50 people already set to take to the green and tee-off. It’s definitely going to be a day to remember!  If you love a day on the links and fancy your chances at hitting a hole-in-one, then you absolutely need to register your attendance and be in the chance to win A BRAND-NEW CAR! Our Hole-in-One prize is attracting many excited punters and we can’t wait to see who walks away with a brand spanking new set of wheels! You can learn more details below in our upcoming events section.

After all of this excitement a well-deserved break will be had at Easter. I’m really looking forward to spending this time with my family as we haven’t been able to get together for the last two years. I want to wish you all a safe Easter period and for those lucky enough to head off on holiday over the school holidays – ENJOY!

Best wishes,

Leanne Down
CEO, Werribee Hospital Foundation

OUR IMPACTS

Accuvein Vein Finder is making a world of difference to Paediatric Ward patients

Receiving reports from healthcare staff that the Accuvein we funded with your help is a game changer for babies and children needing cannula insertion is exactly why we do what we do at the Foundation.

Learn more about the heart warming feedback and why this important piece of equipment is helping our youngest patient.

Did someone call an ambulance?!

Emotions ran high on the day we recently delivered two Ride-on-Ambulances to the Paediatric Ward. Our 2021 ‘Gifts of Care’ Christmas Appeal was dedicated to improving the patient care experience, and these ambulances sat high on our wish-list.

Find out how these fun toys significantly reduce pre-operative anxiety for children by taking the fear factor down for young patients and their families.

Sizzling Success

Over the years the opinions surrounding whether onions belong on top or the bottom of a sausage has dominated a Bunnings BBQ conversation – what’s your preference?   Judging by the poll we did on our social media pages onion on top is the winner, with a huge 85% – rightfully so?

Hindu New Year

Held on the 2nd April at Presidents Park, The Foundation met with so many wonderful residents and were able to share our achievements and the impact we’ve been able to achieve with the community’s support.

On the day we raised $285 and we would like to thank our hosts for inviting us to participate as their charity of choice at this wonderful event. Pictured is our Board Director Dr. Amireh Fakhouri, helping out at our festival stall.
