5KOK for Mental Health Awareness Month

It’s back bigger and better – Werribee Hospital Foundation’s 5KOK challenge.

It’s time to get moving this October for mental health awareness month.

We all have mental health and it’s important to take care of it, just as you would with any other health focuses. Just because it is invisible to the eye doesn’t mean it’s not important. Exercise can really help when it comes to taking care of your mental health.

It increases blood flow to the brain and stimulates chemicals like endorphins and serotonin. It can also help with our moods, anxiety, mental clarity, improve productivity and memory and you can even get a better night’s sleep. Who wouldn’t want those health benefits?

October is Mental Health Awareness month and Werribee Hospital Foundation are encouraging the community to get moving and look after their mental health by participating in 5KOKchallenge, proudly sponsored by VillaWood properties & Alamora Estate.

This novel appeal is simple and fun, and everyone can participate. It’s as easy as 1,2,3!

So how does it work?

  1. Register your details HERE so we know you are on board for the challenge and choose an activity you’d like to do 5km for 5 consecutive days throughout the month of October. Run, walk, ride, roll, swim or something else. It can be a casual stroll or try to beat your personal best.
  2. Once registered, share your personalised online page with family and friends & help them support positive metal health initiatives in our community.
  3. Start your tracker and get moving!  Take a photo at the end share your achievement. Be proud and upload a photo of your tracker and/or yourself with a big smile using #whf5kok

Kick back and be proud of yourself for keeping active and knowing that you’ve helped support something great.

100% of donations are attributed to supporting our community’s mental health services.
